Primarily a session instrumentalist, performer and composer, Alley has worked with, and performed as a bassist alongside a myriad of artists (see list below). Her work as a composer and instrumentalist has been featured on BBC One, BBC Four, BBC Radio 1, Worldwide FM, at the Barbican Cinema and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art's Vanbrugh Theatre. As a bandleader, Alley has directed and composed music for a multitude of different projects. One of her own projects, Soma, a jazz-fusion sextet, was awarded an artist residency at the Roundhouse after a few months on London's jazz scene.
Alley has toured extensively and has performed in prestigious venues around the world, including the National Theatre of Kenya, National Theatre of Ethiopia, SXSW [Texas USA], Barbican, Montreux Jazz Festival, Alexandra Palace Theatre, London Palladium, Glastonbury, Opera Universitario di Trento, Théâtre de la Mer Séte, Parkorman Istanbul, Royal Festival Hall and many more. Alley also works as an artist in residence with Nzoyi Records, with whom she has recorded bass for a plethora of artists. Alongside this, Alley also hosts a radio show with her project, Colectiva, on Soho Radio.
Alley also works as an educator, providing workshops on various youth music programmes at the Roundhouse (London), such as Nando's Music Exchange and Roundhouse Music Experience. She has also provided workshops at Young People's Theatre (London), and worked with Havana World Music Festival's 'Primera Base' contest (Cuba) as an audition panelist and guest-speaker.
